I arrived back in Bangkok at 6pm, and Bazz (on a stopover for 20hours) was due to arrive at 6.30pm and my friend/housemate Rafeena from Fremantle at 7pm. What timing!

Saturday night. Khao San Road, Bangkok. Street is full of bars and clubs, and it continues until at least 3am, locals and farang (westerners of european descent).

The plan was to get a bus from Mae Sot to Bangkok at around 8am, arriving there at around 4pm. Fail. I got there at 11pm. Thai time… mine and the bus driver’s.

Live rabbits, mice, eels, toads, snails and fish. Uncovered meat including pig trotters and snouts. At least twenty types of fruit and vegetables I don’t recognise. Buddhist monks. After a night in Lampang I headed for Sukhothai. I got up a bit late, but as soon as I got to the bus station at around 10, a bus was about to leave. Most busses between cities seem to leave every hour, so it’s all quite easy without planning anything.
