Cyber Oma

I’m in Holland (officially The Netherlands) at the moment.
I was planning to be here later in the year. Unfortunately I’m here early because last week my grandma, Oma Han Kloos, passed away very suddenly from a stroke, at age 78. It is difficult for us that we couldn’t say goodbye, but we’re happy she did [...]

Blogging, and books

Have been inspired to start blogging again regularly (plan is every day for the rest of June at least) by some friends that have recently started blogging (regularly) again and others that have just continued doing so. I want to do random posts about stuff and things ( ;) ) and catch up on my [...]

Now

Life is very good for me right now. In a way, too good. Which is a first world problem. As soon as I want to say ‘life is awesome!!’ I start thinking it’s not as awesome for everyone as it is for me. Which means deep down it’s not as awesome as I think it [...]

2009: Woah

So I summed up the last decade, but I wanted to do the last year in a little more detail. Believe me though, even this long list is still a summary. Busy much?!! Life is short.
The biggest thing this year was traveling, for the first time ever by myself, for the first time ever to [...]

2000-2009

Amazed at how much I’ve done in the last decade, but hoping to do more, different things in the next!
I could regret certain things from the past (education, work and relationship choices), but I choose to see them as learning experiences, just ‘life’, and generally I’ve had a lot of fun. Things I didn’t do [...]

Science, Unweaving the Rainbow

I’ve just (an hour ago) started reading ‘Unweaving the Rainbow’, by Richard Dawkins. It’s about science making life amazing, showing life is amazing and worthwhile. Just because there is no longer a mystery behind the rainbow, thanks to Newton, does not make it boring and sad.
I have a feeling I should have read things by [...]

Three buses, one book

The plan was to get a bus from Mae Sot to Bangkok at around 8am, arriving there at around 4pm. Fail. I got there at 11pm. Thai time… mine and the bus driver’s.
I did manage to get up early, but then did some work, got distracted online, had a lovely brunch of Burmese tea leaf [...]

Gratitude

I haz it.
For life. For food. For music. For freedom. For a very amicable divorce. For not having to show an identity card at police controls on the Burmese/Thai border.
For friends, old and new, and family.
For the internet and it’s many applications for being able to share this journey with you all, and I’m not [...]

Movement

And once again, change is in the air. I quit my job (4.5 years, fulltime) a few weeks ago. A new version of enjoyperth.com.au will be launching soon. And in less than two weeks I start travelling, though I’ll be still be online a lot and back in Perth semi-regularly. On 13 July I will [...]

Barcamp and Silicon Breach

Barcamp Perth 2.0 is tomorrow (Saturday 10 May). I hope you’ve heard about it elsewhere, otherwise this is late notice..
BarCamp is an ad-hoc unconference born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment.
BarCamp is a relaxed community event with demonstrations, discussions, presentation and interaction from attendees. If you have something [...]
