Paradise, again

Monday 31 August
Gili Air

Left Senggigi and arrived in Gili Air yesterday. Got a proper hotel room(bungalow) for 150,000!!! I’m in paradise, again ;) . The island is beautiful, the hotel is beautiful (pool, proper room, bathroom, towels, tv(!), proper breakfast included!!). From the day bed on my verandah I can see the pool, the beach and the mountains of Lombok on the other side of the ocean!  Backpackers next to me are paying 250,000 and am sure other people are paying 500,000 or more, crazy!
Bungalow

Walked around the island yesterday(took about 2 hours including a drink at a bar with some tourists) and then had dinner with my new neighbours, Germans Jenny and Dani, at Warung Fatima: nasi campur for 8000 and a cup of tea
Watched ghostbusters on tv, ha!

After breakfast this morning with the girls, I lounged around the pool and read my book. Am reading The Cider House Rules, liking it a lot so far.
Some british backpackers arrived in the bungalow on the other side and found out they’re paying more than me, but even then they’re also still shocked at the price (were wondering, like I was yesterday, if we were talking in the same currency!!)

I’ve recovered from being sick except for the fact I still feel like I’m on a boat at times. My balance is off. First I thought it was just low blood pressure, but it feels quite different. Bloody menierre’s disease keeps popping into my mind. That reminds me, I dreamt I visited my grandma last night.

Talking to the girls last night, they said they thought it was really hard travelling alone in Indonesia, compared to Thailand. Not the first time I’ve heard it. I have nothing to compare too, and am not finding it that hard, so oh well. They were referring to people trying to make you pay lots of money, and having to bargain for everything. They’ve also not met many people on their own, as others have mentioned. Another couple we were talking to at dinner said bargaining etc was easier here than Vietnam, but harder than Thailand.

I’ve booked my flight to Malaysia, 10 September from Denpasar (Bali) to KL. So I’ll spend a night or two in Kuta before I leave. And before that climb Mt Rinjani. So now I have a few more days of relaxing here first. And ‘train’ for Rinjani. Laps in the pool and walk around the island once a day…

Thailand is helemaal moeilijk te reizen voor een alleen gaand meisje . Je bent knap en je moet ozo voorzichtig zijn. Heb je niet iemand die met je mee kan ?Ik denk veel aan je en bid voor je dat het goed gaat.
